Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate Cultural Event Coordinator to design, execute, and manage large-scale cultural events that highlight Gambian history, arts, and traditions. This role requires a blend of creative vision, logistical expertise, and stakeholder relationship-building to ensure events align with our mission of cultural preservation and public engagement. The position reports directly to the Director of Cultural Programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate cultural festivals, exhibitions, and workshops in collaboration with local artists, historians, and community leaders.
  • Develop event budgets, timelines, and risk management plans for indoor and outdoor events.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, performers, and sponsors to secure resources and funding.
  • Lead on-site event management, including setup, crowd control, and post-event evaluation.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote events through digital and traditional media channels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and accessibility standards for all attendees.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in event coordination, preferably within cultural or nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.

Education

Experience

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 Dinar annually, commensurate with experience and demonstrated expertise.
