Job Overview

The Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and expanding Orange Gambia’s radio access network (RAN) and core infrastructure in the Basse region and surrounding districts. Working closely with the Radio Planning, Operations, and Procurement teams, the engineer will develop detailed network plans, perform capacity forecasting, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed radio network plans, including site selection, frequency allocation, and antenna configuration.
  • Conduct drive‑test and simulation analyses to assess coverage, capacity, and quality of service.
  • Collaborate with the RF Optimization team to identify and resolve performance issues such as interference, handover failures, and dropped calls.
  • Prepare cost‑benefit analyses and business cases for network expansion projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies to secure permits and ensure compliance with spectrum regulations.
  • Provide technical input for procurement of network equipment, ensuring specifications meet planning requirements.
  • Support the rollout of new technologies, including LTE‑Advanced and 5G, by updating planning tools and methodologies.
  • Generate regular performance reports and present findings to senior management and cross‑functional teams.
  • Participate in field surveys and site inspections to validate planning assumptions and gather real‑world data.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the Network Engineering department.

Required Skills

Education
