Job Overview

The Warehouse Automation Engineer will design, implement, and maintain advanced automation systems within Coca‑Cola’s Banjul distribution center. This includes robotics, conveyor systems, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and warehouse management software integration. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer automated material handling solutions, including robotics, conveyors, and AGVs, tailored to the specific needs of the Banjul distribution center.
  • Integrate warehouse management systems (WMS) with automation hardware to enable real‑time inventory tracking and order fulfillment.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and ROI assessments for proposed automation projects.
  • Lead pilot installations, testing, and commissioning of new automation equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with health, safety, and environmental teams to guarantee that all automation solutions meet regulatory and safety standards.
  • Provide training and technical support to warehouse staff on the operation and troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, integrators, and service providers to ensure timely delivery and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support the company’s sustainability agenda by reducing energy consumption and waste through intelligent automation.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming, robotics control languages (e.g., RAPID, KRL), and industrial networking protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse automation technologies, including conveyors, sortation systems, and AGVs.
  • Experience with WMS platforms such as SAP EWM, Manhattan, or Oracle WMS.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset for performance optimization.
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management across cross‑functional teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications in automation, robotics, or project management (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining warehouse automation solutions in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Experience in the beverage or FMCG sector is a plus.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are also part of the total compensation package.
