Job Overview

The Senior Automation Engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions for Siemens’ clients in Gambia and the wider West African region. Reporting to the Automation Services Manager, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements into robust, scalable control systems that improve operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including sales, project management, software development, and field service, to ensure seamless project execution from concept to commissioning. You will also mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical documentation, and stay abreast of emerging technologies such as Industry 4.0, IoT, and AI‑driven analytics. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects.

• Coordinate with clients to gather requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and propose optimal automation architectures.
• Oversee system integration, testing, and commissioning activities on site, ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed solutions, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens S7, TIA Portal) and SCADA platforms.

Education

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation engineering, preferably within manufacturing, energy, or water treatment sectors. Prior experience leading projects and supervising multidisciplinary teams is essential.

Salary
