Job Overview

The Banking Risk Analyst will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring financial, operational, and compliance risks across GTBank Gambia’s portfolio. Working closely with the Risk Management Department, senior management, and business units, you will develop risk models, conduct stress testing, and produce insightful reports that influence strategic initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the bank adheres to local and international regulatory standards while maintaining a robust risk culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for credit, market, liquidity, and operational exposures.
  • Develop and maintain quantitative risk models, including Value at Risk (VaR) and credit scoring tools.
  • Perform regular stress‑testing scenarios to evaluate the bank’s resilience under adverse economic conditions.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports and dashboards for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor compliance with Basel III, local banking regulations, and internal risk policies.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance data collection, reporting automation, and analytics capabilities.
  • Provide risk‑related insights to support product development, pricing, and strategic planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and audit documentation.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • In‑depth knowledge of banking risk frameworks, Basel regulations, and financial instruments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, and data visualization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in risk analysis, credit risk, market risk, or a similar role within a banking or financial services environment. Prior exposure to regulatory compliance and risk reporting in West Africa is a plus.

Salary

The annual compensation package ranges from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration structure.
