Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all products manufactured at the Bakau facility meet Unilever’s stringent quality standards and comply with local and international regulations. This position involves close collaboration with production, research & development, and regulatory teams to implement robust quality systems, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and HACCP standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to identify non‑conformities.
  • Coordinate with production teams to investigate and resolve quality issues, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are documented and effective.
  • Perform routine sampling and laboratory testing of raw materials, in‑process goods, and finished products.
  • Prepare detailed quality reports, trend analyses, and recommendations for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with Gambia’s Food and Drugs Act, as well as international food safety regulations.
  • Lead training sessions for staff on quality procedures, hygiene practices, and regulatory updates.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, GMP, HACCP, and ISO 9001.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and statistical software for quality analysis.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and reporting.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff and drive a culture of quality.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants should have 2‑4 years of hands‑on experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment. Experience with regulatory inspections and audit preparation is a strong advantage.

Salary
