Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the analyst will conduct risk assessments, develop compliance policies, and monitor transactional activity on distributed ledger platforms. This position bridges the gap between cutting‑edge technology and stringent compliance requirements, safeguarding the bank’s reputation while fostering innovation. The role involves close collaboration with the technology, legal, and risk management teams to design controls that mitigate fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing risks associated with blockchain transactions. Candidates will also engage with regulators and industry bodies to stay abreast of evolving guidelines, ensuring the bank remains a trusted partner in the digital economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive compliance risk assessments for all blockchain initiatives, including token issuance, smart contract deployment, and crypto‑asset trading.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and controls that align with Gambia’s Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) regulations and international AML/CTF standards.
- Monitor blockchain transaction flows using analytics tools to detect suspicious activity, generate SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports), and coordinate with the Financial Intelligence Centre.
- Collaborate with the IT and blockchain development teams to embed compliance checkpoints into system architecture and smart contract code.
- Provide regular compliance training and awareness sessions for internal stakeholders on blockchain‑related risks and regulatory updates.
- Liaise with external regulators, auditors, and industry consortiums to ensure the bank’s blockchain operations remain transparent and auditable.
- Prepare detailed compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, highlighting key findings, remediation actions, and emerging trends.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology, distributed ledger systems, and cryptocurrency ecosystems.
- In‑depth knowledge of AML, KYC, and CTF regulations applicable in Gambia and internationally.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex transaction data and identify red flags.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting policies, reports, and training materials.
- Proficiency with compliance monitoring tools, data analytics platforms, and blockchain explorers.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally, influencing technical and non‑technical teams.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or blockchain‑specific credentials (e.g., Certified Blockchain Professional) are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the financial services sector, with at least 1‑2 years focused on blockchain or digital asset initiatives. Prior exposure to Gambia’s financial regulatory environment is an advantage.
