Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Biotechnology Research Scientist to join our team in Kotu, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing research projects focused on the development of sustainable marine biotechnology solutions for the conservation of marine ecosystems. This role will involve collaboration with international partners, including governments, NGOs, and industry stakeholders, to advance our understanding of the impacts of human activities on marine ecosystems and to develop effective conservation strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine biotechnology, with expertise in areas such as marine genomics, bioprospecting, and biotechnology applications. A Ph.D. in Marine Biotechnology or a related field is required, as well as a minimum of 8 years of experience in research and development. The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement research projects focused on the development of sustainable marine biotechnology solutions for the conservation of marine ecosystems.
- Collaborate with international partners, including governments, NGOs, and industry stakeholders, to advance our understanding of the impacts of human activities on marine ecosystems and to develop effective conservation strategies.
- Conduct fieldwork and laboratory experiments to collect and analyze data on marine ecosystems and the impacts of human activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and industry partners.
- Write and publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at international conferences.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Marine Biotechnology or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in research and development.
- Strong background in marine biotechnology, with expertise in areas such as marine genomics, bioprospecting, and biotechnology applications.
