Job Overview

GAMTEL is seeking an experienced Database / ABIS Application Administrator to support and manage critical national-scale biometric and identity management platforms. The successful candidate will oversee Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) operations, database administration, system performance monitoring, cybersecurity compliance, disaster recovery planning, and application optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise ABIS platforms and associated databases.
• Configure, monitor, and optimize biometric enrollment and matching systems.
• Manage Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or equivalent database environments.
• Perform database backup, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery testing.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot system bottlenecks.
• Implement database security policies, user access controls, and encryption protocols.
• Support national identity management projects and digital transformation initiatives.
• Coordinate with software vendors and implementation partners.
• Prepare technical documentation, audit reports, and compliance records.
• Ensure system availability and uptime targets are achieved.
• Conduct database tuning and capacity planning activities.
• Support API integrations with government and enterprise platforms.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis activities.
• Implement cybersecurity best practices and vulnerability management procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT personnel.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
• Professional certifications are highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of database administration experience.

• Proven experience in high-availability enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and database optimization.
• Experience supporting mission-critical government or telecommunications systems is preferred.
