Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Materials Scientist to join our team in Kerewan, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable materials management strategies that promote the efficient use of resources and reduce waste.
The position will involve working closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector companies, and community groups, to identify opportunities for sustainable materials management and to develop and implement effective solutions.
The Sustainable Materials Scientist will also be responsible for conducting research and analysis on sustainable materials management practices and for developing and disseminating best practices and guidelines for sustainable materials management in the Gambia.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainable materials management strategies that promote the efficient use of resources and reduce waste
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable materials management practices and develop best practices and guidelines for sustainable materials management in the Gambia
- Work closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector companies, and community groups, to identify opportunities for sustainable materials management and to develop and implement effective solutions
- Develop and implement training programs for local stakeholders on sustainable materials management practices
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainable materials management strategies and make recommendations for improvement
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable materials management or a related field
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in English and proficiency in local languages
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field. A Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in sustainable materials management or a related field. Experience in working with local stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector companies, and community groups, will be an added advantage.
Salary
The salary for this position will be 40000-60000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
