Job Overview:The Sustainable Tourism Development Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable tourism strategies that promote eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and community-based tourism in The Gambia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainable tourism development and a passion for promoting responsible tourism practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sustainable tourism strategies that promote eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and community-based tourism in The Gambia
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable tourism trends and best practices
- Collaborate with local communities, tour operators, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism practices
- Develop and manage sustainable tourism projects and programs
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainable tourism initiatives on the local community and the environment
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Sustainable Tourism or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in sustainable tourism development
- Strong knowledge of sustainable tourism principles and practices
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
