Job Overview
The Data Privacy Compliance Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to international data protection standards, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about safeguarding digital rights while driving organizational accountability in an increasingly data-driven world.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits to assess compliance with data privacy laws and internal policies
- Develop and implement data protection frameworks for public and private sector clients
- Provide training on data privacy best practices to employees and stakeholders
- Monitor emerging regulations and advise on risk mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with legal teams to resolve data breach incidents
- Prepare reports for regulatory bodies and senior management
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in data privacy regulations (GDPR, AU Convention)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in compliance software tools (e.g., OneTrust, TrustArc)
- Cultural sensitivity to work in diverse environments
- Fluency in English and basic knowledge of local languages
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Law, or related field. Certification in Data Protection Officer (DP-O) or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is highly advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in data privacy compliance, preferably in a consulting or legal environment. Experience working in African markets or with international regulatory frameworks is preferred.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 DGA annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
