Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Janjanbureh, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation projects that promote the protection of Gambia’s natural resources.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. They will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and develop and implement project plans that meet the needs of local communities and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement conservation projects that promote the protection of Gambia’s natural resources
  • Work with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders to develop and implement conservation projects
  • Conduct field research and monitoring to assess the effectiveness of conservation projects
  • Develop and implement project plans that meet the needs of local communities and the environment
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong background in conservation biology, ecology, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in a related field is an asset.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in conservation biology, ecology, or a related field.

Salary

The salary for this position is 25000-35000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
