Job Overview:IFAD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join its team in Sare Ngai, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to rural communities in the development and implementation of sustainable agriculture practices. The position will involve working closely with local stakeholders, including farmers, extension agents, and government officials, to promote the adoption of climate-resilient agriculture practices and improve agricultural productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance to rural communities in the development and implementation of sustainable agriculture practices.
- Work closely with local stakeholders, including farmers, extension agents, and government officials, to promote the adoption of climate-resilient agriculture practices and improve agricultural productivity.
- Conduct field assessments and evaluations to identify areas for improvement in agricultural practices and develop strategies for addressing these challenges.
- Develop and implement training programs for farmers and extension agents on sustainable agriculture practices.
- Collaborate with other IFAD teams to develop and implement integrated rural development projects.
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, agricultural development, or a related field.
- Proven track record of working with rural communities and promoting the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other stakeholders.
