Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team in Janjanbureh, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation projects that protect and restore critical ecosystems, promote sustainable land use practices, and support community-led conservation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement conservation projects that protect and restore critical ecosystems, promote sustainable land use practices, and support community-led conservation initiatives.
• Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to identify conservation priorities and develop effective conservation strategies.
• Conduct field assessments and monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of conservation projects and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project staff, ensuring high-quality project implementation and effective use of resources.

Required Skills

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in conservation project management, with a focus on ecosystem protection and restoration.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful conservation projects, with a focus on community engagement and participation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and other conservation organizations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends and patterns, and develop effective conservation strategies.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.

Experience

5-7 years of experience in conservation project management, with a focus on ecosystem protection and restoration.

Salary

50,000 – 70,000 SSP per annum.
