Job Overview

The Environmental Conservation Specialist will be responsible for implementing conservation projects in Gambia, working closely with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental conservation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement conservation projects in Gambia, including habitat restoration, species conservation, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to achieve conservation goals
  • Conduct fieldwork, including data collection, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective use of resources
  • Communicate project results and progress to stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and local communities

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation, including project management and community engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation or a related field. A Ph.D. in a related field is an added advantage.

Experience

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation, including project management and community engagement. Experience working in Gambia or a similar context is an added advantage.

Salary

The salary for this position is 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
