Job Overview
The Agricultural Technology Solutions Engineer will design, implement, and support advanced agronomic technologies that empower farmers to increase yields, reduce input costs, and adopt sustainable practices. Working closely with the R&D, sales, and field service teams, the engineer will translate farmer needs into technical specifications, oversee pilot projects, and ensure seamless integration of digital platforms, sensor networks, and precision agriculture tools. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and customize precision agriculture software and hardware solutions tailored to Gambian crop cycles and farm sizes.
- Conduct field trials and pilot programs in collaboration with local farmers, extension officers, and research partners.
- Analyze agronomic data collected from IoT sensors, drones, and satellite imagery to generate actionable insights.
- Provide technical training and on‑site support to end‑users, ensuring effective adoption of technology platforms.
- Collaborate with product development teams to refine existing tools and propose new innovations based on market feedback.
- Maintain documentation, technical specifications, and compliance reports in line with local regulations and international standards.
- Support the sales team with technical presentations, proposal development, and solution demonstrations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in agricultural data analytics, GIS, and remote sensing technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with IoT devices, sensor integration, and cloud‑based data platforms.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to translate complex technical concepts into farmer‑friendly language.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Project management experience, including planning, execution, and reporting of field trials.
- Familiarity with sustainable farming practices and local crop varieties (e.g., millet, sorghum, groundnuts).
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in precision agriculture, data science, or agritech are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in agricultural technology implementation, field research, or agronomic consulting. Experience working in West Africa or similar emerging market environments is a strong advantage.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
