Job Overview
Trimble AgriTech Gambia is seeking a dynamic Drone Agriculture Specialist to lead the deployment of aerial data collection and analysis systems for smallholder and commercial farms. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute drone-based crop monitoring missions using multispectral imaging technology
- Analyze geospatial data to provide actionable insights on soil health, irrigation needs, and pest infestations
- Train farmers and agricultural workers in drone operation and data interpretation
- Collaborate with agronomists to develop site-specific crop management plans
- Maintain and calibrate drone equipment and software systems
- Generate detailed reports on agricultural productivity and environmental impact
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating agricultural drones (e.g., DJI Agras, PrecisionHawk)
- Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing data analysis
- Strong understanding of Gambian agricultural practices and crop cycles
- Excellent communication skills for farmer engagement and technical training
- Ability to troubleshoot drone hardware and software issues in field conditions
- Knowledge of agricultural sustainability principles and climate-smart farming techniques
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- Certification in drone piloting (e.g., FAA Remote Pilot License or equivalent)
- Advanced training in precision agriculture technologies
Experience
- 3-5 years in agricultural technology or remote sensing applications
- Proven track record in drone-based crop monitoring projects
- Experience working in West African agricultural contexts preferred
Salary
2,000,000 – 3,000,000 Dinar annually, with performance-based incentives.
