Job Overview

GCCEC is seeking a dynamic Construction Project Manager to lead large-scale infrastructure projects in Kotu, Gambia. This role involves overseeing project timelines, budgets, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will coordinate with engineers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate construction activities from inception to completion
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical challenges
  • Monitor project progress and report to senior management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and government agencies

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in managing construction projects in a developing country context
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Fluency in English and basic knowledge of local languages (e.g., Mandinka) preferred
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CEM) is a plus

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction project management
  • Experience with public infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities) preferred

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 Dinar per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
