Job Overview
The Agricultural Development Officer will lead initiatives to improve crop yields, implement eco-friendly farming techniques, and train local farmers in modern agricultural practices. This role is critical to expanding our impact in Brikama and surrounding areas, ensuring food security while promoting environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute agricultural development programs for smallholder farmers
- Conduct soil and crop analysis to recommend sustainable farming practices
- Organize training workshops on organic farming, pest management, and water conservation
- Collaborate with local cooperatives to establish community-based agri-business models
- Monitor and report on agricultural productivity metrics and environmental impact
- Develop partnerships with government agencies and NGOs for resource mobilization
Required Skills
- Expertise in sustainable agriculture and agroecology
- Strong project management and community engagement skills
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools
- Fluency in local languages (Wolof, Mandinka) preferred
- Knowledge of Gambian agricultural policies and regulations
- Ability to work in remote rural environments
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Sustainable Development or Agribusiness is an asset
Experience

Salary
150,000 – 180,000 GMD per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
