Job Overview
The IT Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology projects that drive digital innovation for IBM Gambia’s clients. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including software engineers, solution architects, business analysts, and client stakeholders, to define project objectives, develop detailed work plans, and manage risks. Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and client representatives.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation matrices using IBM’s project management tools.
- Lead project kickoff meetings, status reviews, and steering committee sessions to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Monitor project performance, track milestones, and proactively identify and mitigate risks and issues.
- Manage budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial compliance with client contracts.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams, fostering effective communication and collaboration across technical and business domains.
- Ensure adherence to IBM’s quality standards, governance policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present detailed project reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in project management methodologies such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum.
- Strong technical background in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud), AI/ML solutions, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to solve complex problems under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with project management software (IBM Rational, MS Project, JIRA).
- Leadership qualities that inspire and motivate diverse teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as PMP, Agile Scrum Master, or ITIL are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience managing large‑scale IT projects, preferably within a consulting or technology services environment. Experience delivering projects in the West African market, understanding local business contexts, and navigating regulatory landscapes will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
