Job Overview
The Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function for Nestlé’s Bakau production plant, overseeing all aspects of product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Plant Director, the manager will develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, conduct internal audits, and collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless operations. This role is pivotal in safeguarding Nestlé’s brand reputation and meeting consumer expectations for safe, nutritious, and high‑quality food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the plant’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and Nestlé global standards.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed within defined timelines.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and oversee HACCP plan execution to guarantee product safety.
- Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Supply Chain to qualify new raw materials, equipment, and processes.
- Analyze quality data, generate trend reports, and drive root‑cause investigations to reduce non‑conformities.
- Mentor and train QA staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, including Gambia Food and Drug Authority (GFDA) standards.
- Manage supplier quality performance, conducting audits and performance reviews.
- Prepare and present quality performance metrics to senior leadership.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and ISO standards.
- Proven experience in leading quality assurance teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with proficiency in statistical tools (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma).
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive change and influence cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with ERP and QMS software (e.g., SAP QM, Nestlé’s internal platforms).
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food manufacturing sector, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
