Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain quantitative risk models for credit, market, and operational risk.
  • Analyze large data sets using statistical software and programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.
  • Prepare risk dashboards and reports for senior management, regulators, and audit committees.
  • Collaborate with business units to embed risk analytics into product development and pricing strategies.
  • Monitor emerging risk trends and recommend proactive mitigation measures.
  • Ensure all risk models comply with Basel III, local regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.
  • Lead a small team of analysts, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and technical guidance.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a solid foundation in statistical modeling.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation tools (SQL, Excel) and programming languages (Python, R, SAS).
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex risk concepts into clear business insights.
  • Deep understanding of banking products, credit assessment, and market risk dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as Basel III, IFRS 9, and local Gambia banking regulations.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in risk analytics, credit risk modeling, or a similar role within a reputable banking or financial services institution. Prior exposure to the Gambia financial market or other West African economies is a plus.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package also includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
