Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Marine Biogeochemist to join our team in Janjanbureh, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the biogeochemical processes that occur in the marine environment, with a focus on the impacts of climate change on ocean chemistry.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine biogeochemistry, with experience in conducting field and laboratory research, and a proven track record of publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the biogeochemical processes that occur in the marine environment, with a focus on the impacts of climate change on ocean chemistry.
  • Design and implement field and laboratory experiments to collect data on ocean chemistry and biogeochemical processes.
  • Analyze data and publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to advance our understanding of the marine environment and its impacts on human societies.
  • Develop and implement educational programs to promote public awareness and understanding of the marine environment and its importance to human societies.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Marine Biogeochemistry or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in conducting research on the biogeochemical processes that occur in the marine environment.
  • Experience in designing and implementing field and laboratory experiments to collect data on ocean chemistry and biogeochemical processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze large datasets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with other researchers and stakeholders.

Education

Ph.D. in Marine Biogeochemistry or a related field.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in conducting research on the biogeochemical processes that occur in the marine environment.

Salary

50,000 – 70,000 SSP per annum.
