Job Overview:IFAD is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join its team in Niamina, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to rural communities in the development of sustainable agriculture practices, improving agricultural productivity, and enhancing the livelihoods of rural people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sustainable agriculture projects that promote agricultural productivity, improve food security, and enhance the livelihoods of rural people.
- Provide technical assistance to rural communities, farmers, and agricultural extension agents in the development of sustainable agriculture practices.
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable agriculture practices, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihoods.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural extension agents, and community leaders.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainable agriculture projects on rural livelihoods and agricultural productivity.
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, agricultural development, or related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team and build partnerships with local stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
