Job Overview
The Construction Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the technical and administrative aspects of construction projects from inception through completion. Working closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors, the engineer ensures that designs are executed accurately, schedules are met, and quality standards are upheld. This position plays a pivotal role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing resources, and mitigating risks to achieve project objectives within budget and timeline constraints. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Monitor daily site activities, conduct inspections, and enforce compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Prepare progress reports, cost estimates, and schedule updates for senior management.
- Identify potential project risks, propose mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and optimal utilization.
- Facilitate communication among stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and client representatives.
- Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, environmental regulations, and international best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and project management tools.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for multi‑cultural team collaboration.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French or local languages is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience in managing medium to large‑scale construction projects, preferably within the West African region. Experience with infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, or urban development is strongly preferred.
Salary
The successful applicant will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary reviews are conducted annually based on performance and market benchmarks.
