Job Overview
The Mobile Payments Product Manager will lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of Barclays’ mobile payment platforms, from concept through launch and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Head of Digital Banking, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including technology, risk, compliance, marketing, and operations to design products that meet local regulatory standards while delivering exceptional user experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Define product vision, roadmap, and feature prioritisation for mobile payment solutions aligned with market needs and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer interviews to identify opportunities and pain points.
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to translate requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
- Lead agile sprint planning, backlog grooming, and product demos, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality releases.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and security teams to embed robust controls and meet Central Bank of The Gambia guidelines.
- Develop go‑to‑market strategies, pricing models, and promotional campaigns in partnership with marketing.
- Monitor key performance indicators, analyse usage data, and iterate on product features to improve adoption and satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary product evangelist, delivering presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Maintain product documentation, roadmaps, and stakeholder communication plans.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of mobile payment ecosystems, digital wallets, and fintech trends in Africa.
- Proven experience managing end‑to‑end product lifecycles in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret data and make data‑driven decisions.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing electronic payments in The Gambia.
- Agile methodology experience, preferably Scrum.
- Leadership mindset with a collaborative, results‑oriented approach.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or a Master’s degree in Business Administration are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of product management experience within the financial technology sector, preferably with a focus on mobile payments, digital banking, or related services. Demonstrated success in launching consumer‑focused digital products in emerging markets is essential.
Salary
