Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function for Unilever Gambia’s manufacturing site, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and compliance reporting.
  • Oversee product testing, stability studies, and validation protocols to guarantee product safety and efficacy.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Train and mentor QA staff, fostering a proactive quality culture across the organization.
  • Monitor key quality metrics, analyze trends, and drive data‑based decision making to enhance process performance.
  • Manage supplier qualification and audit programs to ensure raw material quality.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and GMP principles.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive change.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE, HACCP, or ISO auditor qualifications are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in a multinational environment and familiarity with Gambia’s regulatory landscape are preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 150,000 SSP to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
