Job Overview
GE Energy Solutions is seeking a Smart Grid Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of next-generation smart grid technologies in Kanifing, Gambia. This role will focus on integrating renewable energy sources, improving grid resilience, and deploying digital solutions to enhance energy distribution efficiency. The successful candidate will work on high-impact projects that align with global sustainability goals while supporting local energy infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement smart grid systems incorporating renewable energy integration and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable energy solutions for urban and rural areas.
- Conduct technical assessments of existing grid infrastructure to identify modernization opportunities.
- Utilize simulation software to model grid performance and optimize energy distribution networks.
- Provide technical support for smart grid pilot projects and ensure compliance with international safety standards.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in smart grid technologies, including distribution automation and demand response systems.
- Strong knowledge of power systems engineering principles and software tools (e.g., ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Experience with IoT-enabled grid monitoring and data analytics platforms.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder communication skills.
- Proficiency in regulatory compliance for energy infrastructure projects.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred (specializing in Smart Grid Technologies or Renewable Energy Systems).
Experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience in energy infrastructure or smart grid engineering.
- Previous project involvement in energy transition initiatives or grid modernization programs.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 Dinar annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
