Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join our team in Njau, Gambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to rural communities in the development and implementation of sustainable agriculture projects. The Specialist will work closely with local stakeholders, including farmers, extension agents, and government officials, to identify and address the needs of rural communities.
The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will be responsible for:
- Conducting needs assessments and developing project proposals to address the needs of rural communities;
- Providing technical assistance to farmers and extension agents on sustainable agriculture practices, including crop and animal production, soil conservation, and water management;
- Developing and implementing training programs for farmers and extension agents on sustainable agriculture practices;
- Monitoring and evaluating the impact of sustainable agriculture projects on rural communities;
- Collaborating with local stakeholders to identify and address the needs of rural communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments and develop project proposals to address the needs of rural communities;
- Provide technical assistance to farmers and extension agents on sustainable agriculture practices;
- Develop and implement training programs for farmers and extension agents on sustainable agriculture practices;
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainable agriculture projects on rural communities;
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify and address the needs of rural communities.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Agricultural Science or related field;
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, rural development, or a related field;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with local stakeholders;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education
The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in Agricultural Science or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience
The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, rural development, or a related field.
Salary
The salary for this position is 40,000 – 60,000 SSP per month.
